About your teacher


I was first introduced to mat Pilates through a corporate event over two decades ago and instinctively knew it was a practice I could and would want to do for years to come. Over the years I have come back to Pilates time and time again for both my physical and mental health.

However, I returned to my Pilates practice more passionately after my second child, two and a half years ago, after an injury reminded me how important it was to keep the body and mind strong.


In 2022 I decided that I wanted to share this practice with everybody with a strong belief that every body can do Pilates. Wherever you are in life, it’s accessible and beneficial.  I followed this, intuitively brought about, study and completed my Cert IV in Group Mat and Reformer Pilates through Breathe Education in August 2022. From August I have been teaching group reformer classes in the beautiful Dynamic Pilates Studio and group mat classes in the wellness precinct, Synkro. I also teach private clients in my home and am a co-founder of the event ‘Dance Stretch Connect’ under my business name, Aroha Pilates.


My business name is derived from my Maori heritage. The direct translation of Aroha is ‘love’ which is fitting for my love of Pilates. In Maori, Aroha can also be broken down into ‘Aro-to pay attention to’ and ‘Ha- the breath’. Effectively the combination of these words can be further interpreted as being present and paying attention to that which gives the body life, the breath.


Its been my experience that Pilates is a modality of exercise that strengthens the entire body, supports and elevates you in all other physical exercise and is fun and challenging. Pilates is also amazing for mental health, connecting breath to body, mind and movement.
